Getting started

How to join Ruin Roleplay: a new player’s first steps

Choose a live Ruin region, prepare FiveM, read the community rules, and plan a comfortable first roleplay session.

Joining Ruin Roleplay starts with choosing a region and following that community’s current instructions. The global website connects the Ruin network; the regional website is where you should check the details for your chosen city. Taking a few minutes to prepare helps you arrive ready to meet people and follow your first scene comfortably.

1. Choose an available region

Open the region directory and look at the availability labels. Pakistan is live. India and USA are coming soon, so their regional pages should be treated as places to follow the journey rather than invitations to connect to a launched server. Check the directory again when you return, because an old social post may describe an earlier stage of a region.

For the live Pakistan community, visit its official regional website and use the joining instructions published there. Read any onboarding requirements before deciding what to do next. Requirements can differ between communities and can change as they develop.

2. Prepare your game and client

Use the official Cfx installation guidance for current FiveM installation and game requirements. Download the client through the official FiveM website and keep your GTA V installation updated. Follow the current instructions for your compatible game edition.

If setup fails, note the exact error and check official support guidance before changing files. A clear description of what happened is more useful to a helper than saying that the game simply does not work. Include the stage you reached and any steps you have already tried so the person helping can understand the situation.

3. Learn the community before entering a scene

Read the regional rules and pay attention to how players separate character knowledge from conversations outside the game. Check the expected communication style and learn the right place for support questions. Keep your first character idea simple enough to adjust if a rule or setting requires it.

  • Choose a name and a short reason for arriving in the city.
  • Give your character a small goal for the first session.
  • Make sure you can hear and understand other players.
  • Leave time to read instructions without rushing into a major storyline.

4. Start with one conversation

Your first evening does not need a dramatic opening. Ask a practical question in character, meet someone doing an ordinary job, or find a place where a conversation can develop naturally. Give others room to respond and let your character learn through those interactions.

Every Ruin server uses our private custom Ruin Framework, while regional guidance remains the place to learn current joining details. Continue with our first-character guide if you would like help turning a simple idea into someone other players can get to know.
